A new modern, off-campus student housing community is coming to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Aptitude Development, a New Jersey student housing development firm, broke ground on The Marshall Birmingham at the end of October 2020.
Within walking distance of UAB’s campus, The Marshall is located at 1201 3rd Avenue South on the corner of 13th Street and 3rd Avenue South in Birmingham’s Parkside District. The 200,000 SF, seven-story building will have 409 beds and will boast 10,000 square-feet of amenity space and views of UAB and downtown Birmingham.
“We’ve seen Birmingham evolve over the years and the demand for student housing has really flourished, when we saw an opportunity to develop a modern community within walking distance of the university, we took it,” said Jared Hutter, Co-Founder Aptitude Development.
Bhate Geosciences is providing environmental services, geotechnical engineering, GPR scanning to locate underground utilities and construction materials testing services on this project. Stone Building Company is the general contractor.
The Marshall Birmingham will open for students in Summer 2022.
