The Oxford Civic Center features a multipurpose gymnasium and meeting and banquet spaces. This site had what appeared to be a suspect sinkhole condition. BHATE was retained by the City of Oxford to provide preconstruction and subsurface design guidance for this structure; we also provided all CMT testing and Special Inspections during construction.
The 127,000-square-foot classical style building is part of the U.S. General Services Administration’s Design Excellence program. BHATE provided all geotechnical services including CMT and Special Inspections for the project. The Building Diagnostics and Property Sciences Company provided building envelope testing for this project.
BHATE was selected for the geotechnical and CMT/SI services by the project developer Corporate Realty for this 86,000sf build-to-suit project for the U.S. General Services Administration. The project was constructed on a brownfield site in Birmingham’s central business district.
