The McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama is located in the former Loveman's department store building, which was constructed in 1935. The initial phase of the McWane Science Center opened in 1998 in the 180,000-square-foot facility. BHATE provided NDT services for concrete evaluation, reinforcing steel condition assessment, structural steel inspections, asbestos and lead paint evaluation, geotechnical recommendations for new foundations, and basement dewatering.
