Powell Steam Plant

This is a former coal-burning steam plant constructed in 1895. The plant provided steam and electrical power to businesses and downtown streetcars. BHATE was selected by Alabama Power to assist with hazardous materials abatement and structural stabilization. We conducted geotechnical borings inside the plant and assisted with evaluation of the existing footings and the documentation structural conditions.
