Career Opportunity – Environmental Professional/Geologist

Bhate Geosciences Corporation has an immediate opening for an Environmental Professional/Geologist at our Birmingham Office.

Minimum qualifications for the position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or related field is required
  • 1-3 years of related internship or environmental experience, environmental consulting experience preferred
  • Critical thinking, reasoning, problem solving ability
  • Ability to manage projects and budgets
  • Ability to interact with many different types of individuals, including executives, scientists, engineers, and other business professionals
  • Excellent verbal communication, technical writing and research skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail, an aptitude to conduct high quality work in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to learn, take initiative and be mentored
  • Ability to self-manage workload, multi-task, adhere to schedules, and work independently and as part of a team to meet multiple project deliverable deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible to a variety of schedules and quickly adapt to change to meet business needs
  • Ability to travel (up to approximately 20%) and work at client locations to support business needs
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Experience managing others and project teams
  • 40-hour OSHA HAWOPER certification preferred

Essential Duties:

  • Completing environmental reports and other technical documents and assists clients with complying local, regional, state, and federal regulations for various programs
  • Developing and executing asbestos sampling plans for various projects
  • Conduct Air, Water and Soil Sampling
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients and regulators. Work to resolve issues of potential non-compliance
  • Be able to be cross-trained in various disciplines
  • Completing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Support fieldwork efforts including sampling of environmental media (soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, etc.) and interfacing with clients on project sites
  • Work with a team of multi-disciplinary environmental professionals to provide creative solutions to environmental issues for our clients and to accomplish project requirements
  • Actively seek out work opportunities to support a variety of projects and meet annual direct utilization goals
  • Handle multiple deadlines and produce high-quality work under tight schedules

Work conditions include a mixture of office and field work.  Our employees typically perform projects from proposal to final report.
