GPR Scans Used in Cemetary

The Barrancas National Cemetery NAS Pensacola is undergoing a design-build cemetery expansion. As part of this expansion, utilities associated with a new building were proposed to be installed within the historic section of the graveyard.

Information for the location of existing underground utilities could not be accurately relied upon and Bhate Geosciences was hired to provide ground penetrating radar (GPR) utility and anomaly mapping services.

During utility and anomaly mapping within the graveyard, multiple locations were identified where graves with additional interments would conflict with the proposed utility alignment. This information was used to amend the preferred alignment of the new utilities and construction progressed without disruption.

BHATE was excited to be part of this unique project and provide our client with the necessary information to proceed with their cemetery expansion.
