Encompass Health’s new home office is being prepared for its opening in early April. Employees are expected to be fully moved in at the $75 million, seven-story building off Liberty Parkway. Work began in 2015 with BHATE Geosciences performing a detailed site assessment. This area of Liberty Park had a history of underground coal mines going back to early 20th century. BHATE developed a geotechnical plan to manage the subsurface mine issues to allow construction of this major development.
The 199,350-square-foot building sits on a seven-acre site. The building will provide workspace for more than 500 employees and can accommodate up to 660. It is a cast-in place structure with a three-story parking garage providing spaces for 670 vehicles.
Charles Burgin, P.E. P.G. Senior Principal and BHATE staff worked closely with Corporate Realty (Developer), Gensler (Architect) and Brasfield & Gorrie in construction of this building on this challenging site. BHATE provided all geotechnical consultation, construction materials testing and Special Inspections on this important project. This is another great addition to corporate home offices in Birmingham, Alabama. We are proud to be associated with this project.
